Tirant Vell

LOCATION: Es Mercadal, Menorca
SURFACE: 1200 m2
on going

Located in Es Mercadal, Tirant Vell consists of a house of the peasants and several agricultural buildings (“boyeras”, stables and warehouses), with traditional dry stone fences. These walls, built by the wallers, organize the property into compartments that facilitate the use of pastures for livestock while cleaning excess stone from the fields.

The main house is a two-storey vernacular construction located on a mound and facing southwest to protect against the wind of Tramontana. A feature that stands out on this farm is the existence of underground caves under the house, whose consolidation is contemplated by the project.

Photovoltaic panels, biomass for the production of heating and sanitary hot water, ecological orchards and phytodepuration will supply the farm and its activities.
